Game Programmer - Portfolio
Spelling with Peter Parrot was a game created for my Final Year Project at the University of Westminster. This game was created whilst researching into how video games can be used to help young children with dyslexia learn. The research project was carried out over the course of my final year at the University of Westminster and I achieved a first for this project.
The game uses speech recognition through Microsofts Speech SDK, so the children can read the words on the screen. The design aspect of this game was extremely important as special fonts, colours and words were used to help the children read the words displayed on screen easier. There are two modes for the player to go through: one being the main game where the player is given a certain amount of time to say words that appear on screen; the other is a practice mode where the player can practice certain words that they are struggling with.
